Unpaid Invoices

I was contracted by the owner of the company to help get the business setup and legally registered as an incorporated business, take care of the finances, performing payroll duties as well as other parts of the business. I had performed my job well and above what was expected of the company as it was family and I was trying to help with my knowledge and experience, in which the owner did indicate in email communication thanking me for my hard work and dedication. Since the incorporation in January, I had not received any payment for my services, as the owner on numerous conversations over the 3.5 months of my services asked me to hold off on the submission of my invoices as there were not enough funds to pay me, but just enough to cover the employees and bills needed to keep the business running. Being this was family; I had agreed to hold off to help to get the business up and running. After terminating my services, I have made several attempts through email to try and have the invoices paid and indicated that if a payment arrangement could not be reached by the end of May, then I would be left with no choice but to file in small claims court.

Attempts to resolve dispute:

I have sent numerous emails in trying to reach a payment agreement without having to take legal action and an agreement had been reached by email on May 17th. One invoice was paid as per the agreement (January's) for which I had to make email contact just to receive the payment as well as less than a 1/3rd of the February invoice, but the owner has now rescinded the agreement that was made and has now falsely accused me of things of her personal matter that has nothing to do with me, the business or obtaining the payment for my services and has now refused to pay me the remaining amount, will no longer respond to my emails and is trying to have any further communication go through a lawyer. I would just like to receive the money rightfully owed to me and move on.
