Dispute details:
A very poor quality new build with numerous faults
New home keys handed over on 30th May 2025. An immediate quick look over identified multiple issues. Some minor but also some very serious ones
Boiler incorrectly plumbed in. No hot water for 31 days. Also needed a new cabinet as the leek had blown the MDF
Lounge floor had a 25mm ramp. It looks like the floor layer ran out of screed and tapered off rather than order more. Carpet had to be taken up and a self levelling floor screed laid. It is better but not perfect. Carpet and underlay damaged. Requested new carpets and underlay
Upstairs floor uneven. Some joists were lower than others - probably due to the support walls being built at different levels or subsidence. Doors bottoms were cut at an angle to compensate for the tilt in the floor. A hole in the floorboards was made and 6mm filler strips added to try to make the floor level. It is better but not correct. Is the house structurally safe? I have requested they arrange an independent surveyor to check but they have refused
The driveway was so badly laid as to be deemed unsafe. It had to be dug up and re-laid
The garden has lumps and potholes in it. Along with areas of dead grass. It looks as if there is builders rubbish buried underneath. Requested this is dug up and replaced
The rear door to the garden was incorrectly installed and could not be locked
Lots of damaged slabs, uneven slabs, gates that were out of line, kitchen cabinets with holes where the location for handles had been drilled in the wrong place. Doors out of line. and several more minor items
It appears, to me, there was little supervision by Taylor Wimpey otherwise this poor standard of work would not have been allowed. It looks -to me - as if the sub contractors knew they could get away with shoddy work
The house was not fit for purpose and could be lived in until the major faults were corrected
No offer to have the property surveyed. Or any compensation for the rent and mortgage being paid when the house was still unfit to live in
The repair work (AKA the bodge up to correct these faults) took ages to resolve -only after repeated attempts by us. ~Some faults still outstanding as at 20th Nov 2025
