Allegation: Negligence

Value: GBP 5,000.00

Dispute details:

Conscious poor quality installation of wetroom, resulting in lifting and broken tiles, water leaking through floor causing mould and the ceiling below to fall down

- Company was paid to install a new wetroom
- Job was finished adequately (just), yet very over time and with minor fit and finish concerns
- After a short amount of time (less than 3 months) the floor tiles and grout showed large cracks, gaps and lifting
- This resulted in a large amount of water passing the tiles and grout and somehow making its way through to the timber subfloor. This indicates a broken (or missing entirely) waterproof membrane.
- The water then soaked the timber subfloor and floor joists, creating water damage and mould
- There was so much water penetrating the subfloor that it soaked the ceiling below, causing it to collapse into the kitchen below.

- The company agreed to repair at their cost, and agreed they would replace the ceiling in the kitchen.
- The company then did their repairs to part of the floor tiling, but declined to address the subfloor, assuring me that it would not be a problem
- This repair also replaced all floor grout with silicone which was not requested, and is not acceptable

- Then after just a short time (another 3 months) the exact same problems happened; lifting tiles, broken grout, leaks into the kitchen below.
- The company then agreed to also do a complete and proper repair (as I requested in the first place) by removing the subfloor and starting from the beginning

- Since this agreement, the company has been incredibly difficult to contact, citing medical issues, being out of the country, being busy and more.
- I now believe that the company has blocked my phone number, as I am unable to call through via phone or whatsapp, and is not responding to messages or emails

Conscious poor quality installation of wetroom, resulting in lifting and broken tiles, water leaking through floor causing mould and the ceiling below to fall down

Attempts to resolve dispute:

- Open communication via phone calls and messages
- The company agreed to resolve at their expense
- Allowing the company a lot of time to rectify (9 months so far)
- Letting the company attempt to fix the issue their way and not the way I requested, which ultimately failed, meaning that it needed to be done the way I requested.
